Who is The Bitchy Waiter?

Darron Cardosa Serving Up Sass.

“It really did begin one night after a particularly stressful shift at a restaurant on the Upper East Side.”

Darron Cardosa came home frazzled from his shift. Hectic energy flowing through the air, he decided to channel it into words.

After writing out his frustration, he concluded that the post—full of angst and humor—would only be seen among friends. So, naturally, he kept writing posts almost nightly.

Like clockwork, he began to make new posts about five times a week, and the tables quickly turned in his favor with more and more of an audience.

He became known as The Bitchy Waiter, one of the original creators of the restaurant industry.

Back at the beginning of the blog in 2008, Cardosa pursued mostly comedic relief while also providing a forum other F&B members could connect to.

The blog built its foundation on his frustrating experiences.

From people acting entitled because they’re from California to kids throwing tantrums at the restaurant table.

Over the years of service, it has whipped up into an even more encouraging and educational platform.

“I want people who don’t work in the food and beverage world to understand how it works,” the writer explains.

He has even expanded to Food & Wine, writing pieces on manners and etiquette in a restaurant environment.

But lately, the content creator is expanding far beyond this one creation. Cardosa says,

“I have always been a singer and performer so when the idea to create a show popped into my head, it made sense. I did it once here in New York City and it was a huge success.

I did it a couple of more times, and then it turned into something that I was able to do around the country two or three times a year.

Standing on a stage and performing and making people laugh truly is my passion so it’s ironic that a blog about waiting tables has led me back to my original passion of performing.”

Along with his expanding comedy show, Darron Cardosa is working alongside Ken MacLaughlin to produce a comedic horror movie.

“Anyone who works in the restaurant industry will want to see it because it is full of inside jokes that were written just for them.

Most of the capital raised was from the service industry,

and it was created by service industry people. It really is a movie about the restaurant industry for the restaurant industry made by the restaurant industry,” he notes.

The movie, titled We’re So Dead, will be available on streaming platforms in November.

There’s a whole tablescape to watch out for with Darron Cardosa.

While you keep a tab open on him, take a note from his works and treat your server—or everyone for that matter—how you’d like to be treated. It’s a little cheesy, but it’s honest.

And tip generously—you never know, you might be funding a movement.
